- Ridge tiles rocking or mortar on the groundThe bedding mortar under the ridge has cracked and let go.
- A damp patch after rainOn a bedroom ceiling, in the loft or round the chimney breast.
- Lifted lead round the chimney or a wallFlashing that’s come away lets water run down inside.
- Moss and debris in the valleysValleys carry the most water. Blocked or cracked ones overflow.
- Water running down the wallA blocked or misaligned gutter, or a roof edge that’s failed.

We look at the roof before we price the job
We work out where the water or the damage is likely coming from before anything is priced, so the quote is for the job the roof needs.
Some customers mention being shown photos of the problem before the work, and of the finished repair afterwards. If your roof is past patching, see new roofs and re-roofs.
Ridge tiles, valleys and flashing
Ridge and hip tiles sit on a bed of sand and cement mortar that cracks with age. We re-bed them in fresh mortar, or fit a dry-fix ridge system that clips and screws each ridge tile down instead of relying on mortar. Both are common on the concrete-tiled semis and bungalows round Hinckley, Burbage and Barwell.
Valleys and flashing are where most leaks start. Re-pointing or replacing a valley, and redoing lead where the roof meets a wall or chimney, come up often in our reviews. For water already coming in, see roof leak repair; for stacks, see chimney repairs.

Bay and conservatory roofs
Not every repair is on the main roof. Bay window roofs, porch canopies, flat roofs over extensions and conservatory roofs all leak in their own ways. We repair them where the roof can be saved, and say plainly when it can’t. Flat roofs have their own page: flat roofing in Hinckley.
How roof repair prices work
Every roof is different, so there’s no price list. The cost depends on what’s wrong, how much of it there is and how the roof is reached (a ladder, a tower or scaffold). You get the price before we start.
Questions
Roof repair questions
How much does a roof repair cost in Hinckley?
It depends on what’s wrong and how the roof is reached, so we don’t guess over the phone. We look, show you photos and give you the price before any work. The quote is free.
Can you repair a roof in the rain?
Most repairs need a dry spell to be done properly, so the work is planned around the weather.
Do I need planning permission for roof repairs?
Generally not for like-for-like repairs. If your house is listed, or in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, check with the council before changing materials. More roofing questions.
Will you tell me if I need a new roof instead?
Yes. If we think a repair isn’t the right job, we’ll say so and explain why. Often a repair is all that’s needed.
Do you repair ridge tiles on their own?
Yes. Re-bedding loose ridges, or fitting a dry-fix ridge, is one of the most common jobs in our reviews.
