“Fantastic job installing my new roof! The team was professional, Communication was clear throughout, and the pricing was fair. Thanks”
A new roof, in short
We look at the roof and tell you whether we think it needs replacing, and why or whether a repair will do. If it’s a re-roof, you get the price before any work, scaffold goes up, the old roof comes off, and the new one goes on. The quote is free, with no obligation.

What to look for
Signs a roof needs replacing, not patching
- Lots of patched or mismatched tilesYears of repairs, and new ones keep slipping.
- Leaks in more than one placeThe felt underneath has perished, not just one tile.
- Tiles crumbling or covered in mossOld clay or concrete tiles that are soft or delaminating.
- A sagging roof lineBattens or timbers have suffered from long-term damp.
- Ridges and valleys failing againRe-bedded before, now going again.
- Repairs keep adding upWhen the patching never ends, a new roof can make more sense.

Roof replacement: one re-roof, before and after
The before and after photos on this page show the same roof from the same angle. The old clay tiles had been patched with odd replacements for years and moss had taken hold. It’s now re-tiled in new concrete interlocking tiles with a new valley.
Re-roofs like this are full jobs: the whole slope is stripped, not just patched.
How a re-roof runs
First, we look at the roof and agree the price with you. On the day, scaffold goes up and the old tiles, battens and felt come off. The timbers are checked. A new breathable membrane goes on, then new battens set out to suit the tile, then the tiles themselves, working up to the valleys, hips and ridge.
Many houses round Hinckley and Nuneaton have concrete interlocking tiles; older ones have clay plain tiles or slate. In a conservation area, or on a listed building, matching the original material may be required, so check with the council first.

Old spray foam on the rafters
Some roofs have old spray foam insulation sprayed onto the underside of the tiles and timbers. If you know or suspect your loft has spray foam, mention it when you call, because it changes how a re-roof is planned.
How new roof prices work
A new roof is priced on its size, shape, the tile, the number of valleys and hips, and access. You get the price before any work starts. We’ll also tell you if a repair would do instead; see roof repairs. For flat roofs over extensions, see flat roofing.
Questions
New roof questions
How much does a new roof cost?
It depends on the size and shape of the roof, the tile, the valleys and hips, and access. We price it after looking, before any work. The quote is free.
How long does a re-roof take?
It depends on the size of the roof and the weather. We’ll tell you how long your job should take when we quote.
Can you re-roof in winter?
Yes. Roofs are replaced all year round, with the work planned around the weather.
Do I need planning permission for a new roof?
Re-roofing like for like doesn’t normally need planning permission, but listed buildings, conservation areas with Article 4 directions, and changes to the roof shape can. Building regulations can apply when a large part of a roof is renewed, so check before work starts. More questions.
